Islamic Current Events:
During the recent(February 4, 2009) vote for new representatives on the provincial council,in Anabar province, the Iraqi Islamic Party was accused of voting fraud in an attempt to maintain power that they currently hold on the provincial council, according to the Washington Post. The party holds 26 of the 29 spaces on the council.
On November 26-28 2008 a horrific event happened: the shooting in Mumbai, India.. The controversey over this is not that the Islamic religion itself committed the crime, which it did not, but rather since some of the gunmen were Islamic, and the shootings were linked to Islam. Their view is just because some of the murderers were of that faith, it doesn't mean at all that their religion is comprised of killers, and did not want the blame on them. Muslims don't want their image to be tarnished, so they quickly condemned the killings, but still there is question of whether or not Islam holds many other killers that could pursue more devastating acts.
